As a group of students at the University of Minnesota, Gopher Israel (GI) dedicates their time to Israel advocacy on campus, around Minnesota, and in Washington DC. Through media, politics and exciting cultural events GI works to bring Israeli culture to Minnesota, educate tomorrow’s leaders on the Middle East, and create educated, effective advocates of Israel.
GopherIsrael is not affiliated with any political, religious, or outside institutions of any type.
Because GopherIsrael is a goal-oriented organization, members are assigned specific initiatives to work towards, and team members to work with. Involvement ranges from cultural events, to politics, to study abroad initiatives, to writing opportunities, to outreach and much more. While we have annual initiatives that all group members work on achieving, we do encourage members to use their strengths and ideas to work in whatever way suits them towards our goals. Members are also able to present initiatives to the group for consideration. Throughout the year there are various training opportunities and leadership experiences allowing group members to grow, have fun, and improve the effectiveness of the group as a whole. GI gives students the opportunity to create connections with other students interested in Israel, and network with local and national leaders.
