January 2010: University of Minnesota approves two study abroad programs in Israel. This marks the first time that the University of Minnesota has endorsed and approved study abroad programs in the state of Israel.

Starting Fall of 2010, students at the University of Minnesota are now able to study abroad through the U of M’s Learning Abroad Center at either Hebrew University in Jerusalem, or Haifa University in Haifa. These two prestigious universities, in cooperation with the UMN, offer students the ability to use on-campus scholarships while studying abroad, while receiving resident credit through Hebrew U and Haifa U, meaning credits earned in Israel will show up on transcripts as though they were earned through the U of M. No extra petitioning, and no major hassle when transferring credits between the two Universities.
